Pascal: Delivery & Order Management

An 88-second silent walkthrough: an order is taken, confirmed and planned onto a van, the driver completes it on a phone, and the customer tracks it.

Overview

Pascal runs order intake, scheduling, route planning, driver operations and customer tracking for a UK mattress delivery business with several vans across the North West. A dispatcher web app, a driver phone app and a public storefront all share one database.

My role

I built Pascal as client work through Techbom, the part-time software team I co-founded. I used AI-assisted development with Claude and reviewed what it produced.

What it includes

  • Route planning: one click builds an ordered round for each van, using a nearest-neighbour and 2-opt heuristic. Hard delivery windows are respected, and anything that cannot be fitted is listed rather than dropped.
  • Live map: the office can see each van while its driver is on shift.
  • Driver app: the day's stops open in planned order on the driver's phone, with push notifications.
  • Customer tracking: customers follow their delivery with an order number and postcode.
  • Storefront and analytics: a public storefront for ordering, and analytics for the business owner.

Technologies

  • Dispatcher, storefront and tracking: Next.js and React.
  • Driver app: Vite, React and Capacitor.
  • Data: Supabase, with a PostgreSQL schema, row-level security policies and RPCs.

About the demo

The video and screens use a demo database with invented customers. Both live demos open at a sign-in page.
